day 3

It's 3 days since I heard that radio show.
The only thing I really miss is milk in my coffee.  Not much, really, although today was a bit hard.
I have found that it's easy to eat vegan food that is full of fat and salt (like salted peanuts), or sugar.  Plus some really nice stuff like the eggplant dumplings.
My favourite food at the moment is this concoction of fried garlic and chilli that is 100% vegan so no problems there, either.
I don't feel much better, I have to admit, but that's not really why I am doing this.

Sorry pigs

I woke up one day.  Duh.
I kind of wish I hadn't heard the radio, but I did.
Sorry pigs.  I kind of didn't know that, um, well sorry.  And cows.  I really didn't know about the cows and that's the truth.  Blah blah.
Then I looked at the internet.
I feel bad but what can I do.  Oh yeah.  I can do that.
I don't even want to say that word out loud cause it makes me kind of want to throw up.

So for the rest of that day I ate all the meat, bacon, chicken, milk, cheese I could.

Then I stopped.

Now it's day 2 and I'm going ok.  I really miss milk in my coffee but that's about it.

Crap two years just went past

Oh seems like I just lost 2 years.  Fuck just lost two years?

Nevermind, still here still skating.  More surfing than skating actually.  Yeah.  Getting back on a surfboard was almost as stupid as getting on a skateboard, but worth it.

For the last two or so years - maybe even three - I've been surfing again.

I'm old and fat and surfing is really fucking hard if you're unfit.  I don't know if I'm fit -  know I'm still fat - but I can surf again.

I'm gonna try and find a picture of the nugget and fish i've been riding.

smooth star??? wtf

Ok it's true. I've been riding a smooth star. At least i've been riding a smooth star truck thing on one of my old boards.

It started as a joke, but now i can't stop....

I get a lot of strange looks at the skatepark - if you can't be good, may as well be different.

This thing is supposed to be like surfing - I don't know about that, I wish I could turn my surfboard as well as this board, but i'm a pretty crap surfer.

Standing on a smooth star for the first time is an interesting experience. It is not still like a 'normal' board - it is totally unstable. then if you try and push off, it goes everywhere but once you get used to it its ok. The big thing is it can turn on a dime - seriously. I like to take it in bowls and just carve - it doesn't go too well backwards either, but i can live with that.

Apart from a few kids down at the beach, I have only ever seen one person with a smooth star. And he couldn't really skate. I don't know why they are so unpopular - but then again, that's part of why I like them.

the ghost who skates

Last week on Saturday morning I saw him launching down a big hill. It was steep, busy and he was flying. He wants to die.

A few days later I saw him again. It was raining. It was just getting light. He went past the main street of Coogee - which is steep - in a straight line, bent over in that weird downhill thing they do. Through sets of lights, through the roundabout wtf??? He must have been doing 60km. Ok maybe not.

Who is that guy?

tricks and the mythical long boarder

Ok - I'll admit it. I hate tricks. And not just because I can't really do them. I just hate them. All of them. I hate the idea of them. But hey, each to their own.

Who is the mythical long boarder you ask. Well you may not have asked, but who cares. I can't tell you who the mythical long boarder is because he is mythical, isn't he? My girlfriend (yes, I do have one) reckons that the mythical long boarder is not mythical because he is actually real. She has seen him. I have seen him too, but only at mythical times, like dawn and only doing generally mythical things like carving down the big hill near where I live (Coogee in Sydney, Australia - you know in Europe) doing these mad 180 degree standing up sliding turns and generally ripping along.

Oh yeah, I've seen him other times too, like in the almost dark in Sydney, in the rain going down the centre lane of Oxford Street (a really big and busy street) in the middle of about a thousand and one cars trucks and busses. Yeah - that's the mythical fucking long boarder for you. He doesn't do any tricks, he just rides that mo fo like a ghost. He is the ghost who skates.

If you're lucky enough to ever see the mythical longboarder, you'll know straightaway - no mortal man can skate like that. Not even Brad Edwards, although he is pretty close.
